Happy 2007 from the Often Family!!

(Click on any picture to see it enlarged)

We survived yet another year on this godforsaken planet.  Happy Happy, Joy Joy.  All in all, we didn't do too bad.  I just wish we'd been able to find a BABYSITTER to lend a hand on New Year's Eve.  We had actual invites to REAL parties with ADULTS HAVING FUN!!  But...as usual....fate didn't swing our way and we wound up watching poor, old Dick Clark stammer through another difficult Rockin' New Year's Eve.  I don't know who I felt worse for - poor Dick Clark still trying to stay relevant and on the air, or US still trying to stay relevant and on the PLANET.

Anyway, here's what we've got so far for this month.  I've got a gaggle of pictures from an evening Hunter spent at the Museum of Science.  Yes, that's right, he had a fo' real Night at the Museum with he and the cub scouts.  I'm working on those now and they should be up shortly, but perhaps on a website just intended for the group of scouts he is in.  We'll see about that.  That's for checking back in and see you soon!!

New Years Day is also Libby's Birthday.  Happy Birthday, Libby! The crown was a monumental effort.  It was created and finalized by both Andrew and Libby, to create the perfect birthday crown for a 31 year old woman. Andrew threatens to smash ANYONE who questions the power of the crown...or tries to take his cake.  LOL. Now that everyone else is served, Libby is instructed to give half of what's left over to Andrew. Libby gleefully complies - reducing her and Tracy's cake consumption dramatically - which is a blessing for them both.  Soooo much suuugar...
So, with the holidays now officially over, it was time to take down our $50 Christmas tree - leaving a chair in its place. The cats were confused and distraught.  See, they had been VERY BAD KITTIES after the tree came in.  Attacking it daily and scattering the floor with their new found ornaments. Xerxes in particular grew VERY fond of the tree and  considered it his own, personal, indoor, jungle gym.  The loss of the tree was unacceptable...here he is peering out the window, wondering where it is and when it will come back. He continued to check periodically over the next few days...looking long and hard out the window for his lost and forsaken tree.  It was VERY funny and extremely touching to look at.  Poor, BAD KITTY! So, it was back to the rug house for Coal and Xerxes, and the seemed to settle in rather nicely afterwards.
Yes, 2007 is shaping up to be a pretty relaxing year already.  Xerxes is certainly making the most of time.  I really wish I was a cat sometimes. We're a great pair, he and I.  Very good relaxers.  hee hee hee.  I just love my cats. Especially after they've kit the catnip and are "half in the bag".  :) Oh!  And good fortune has struck us already!  Hunter was at Fun World with Baba and hit the JACKPOT on one of the ticket games...got himself 3000 prize tickets.  He traded them in for this chair, which is simply the BEE'S KNEES!!  That chair is mine now...he doesn't know it yet...but it's MINE!  MWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! We were bored one night and pulled out the kids' new K'Nex projects.  One was a small Pirate Ship, but that wasn't very photogenic.  The other was this roller coaster.  It took awhile to build...but it was sooo cool when we were done...and the cats LOVED IT!  Click on the pic and you'll get to see it in MOTION via a small movie I made with our Canon A95 camera.

Libby found an alternate build for the roller coaster, so we disassembled (which made me sad) the first one and re-assembled it in this configuration.  Much sleeker, much neater...and we had plenty of parts this time.  Clicking on the picture above also presents a small movie of the coaster in action.  I used a real Sony CamCorder this time.  Looks much better!
